Using The Database Lecture

I found the 'Using the database' Lecture to be very useful and informative.  It is good to observe some ways in which our learning institutions are evolving with current technologies, making a massive wealth of research and reference material easy to find and access.  I was also impressed to learn that Chisholm gives students free access to paid subscription based web material.

Professional Practice - McClelland Gallery

The exhibit that caught my eye was Martian Hills 'Watershed'. I found this series of pictures inspiring, with a mystical element that I try to capture in my own work sometimes.

I feel it was a visually majestic depiction of man and nature.

Computers - Assignment 2

The artist I have chosen to pay homage to for this Assignment is Dan Chase. Some examples of his work:

Part 1 of this Assignment requires exploration into methods which will enable me to replicate the chosen piece. Fortunately my chosen artist has uploaded a timelapse videos showing in great detail how one of his art pieces was created, in the following video, the artist has scanned and uploaded a detailed sketch into Photoshop, then using various tools, continues to refine and sharpen the image firstly by layering in highlights and smoothing out gradients, then adding in some darker tones, finally he layers a textured background into the image, he also adjusts contrast and saturation to get the tone and colour he requires. I will attempt to use these techniques to complete my main piece for part 2 of this Assignment.
